Angela spent her first month of ownership learning everything she could about chocolate making from previous owener, Jackie Cayhill, and mentor, Jill Gillen. They willingly shared their recipes, expertise and provided commercial kitchen space. “There was a lot of trial and error that first year, many phone calls and e-mails to Jackie and Jill, maybe a few tears. But now, I’ve got it and it’s so much fun. I’ve developed my own recipes and am constantly expanding our product line.”
Since then, Angela has worked diligently to broaden her customer base, refine her skills as a chocolatier, incorporate locally sourced flavors and ingredients, and improve brand recognition through packaging and marketing placement. The response has been phenomenal! Sitkans enthusiastically frequent the shop for unique confections, and visitors always find a gift they are excited to take home.
